Zanzibar Safaris

Beach time, Stone Town's history and reef trips - on their own or as the finish to a Kenya or Tanzania safari.

Most travellers come to Zanzibar for two things: beaches with warm, clear water, and the historic old quarter of Stone Town. Our Zanzibar itineraries range from a simple two-night beach rest to honeymoon stays, family holidays, Stone Town and spice tours, and snorkelling or diving trips to Mnemba Atoll.

They all work as standalone holidays or as the last part of a safari. Our guide to combining a safari with Zanzibar covers flights, timing and which coast to choose.

Common Questions

Zanzibar FAQs

Is Zanzibar a standalone holiday or a safari add-on?

Both. Many travellers add three to five nights after a Kenya or Tanzania safari, but Zanzibar also works on its own.

How do we get to Zanzibar from the mainland?

By a short scheduled flight from Arusha, Kilimanjaro, Dar es Salaam or Nairobi, or by ferry from Dar es Salaam. We book the connection as part of a combined trip.

Which coast should we stay on?

The north (Nungwi, Kendwa) has easier swimming through the day and more restaurants; the east coast is quieter, with a large tidal range.
