Lake Mburo is Uganda's smallest savannah national park and the closest to Kampala and Entebbe, about 3.5-4 hours away on the road to Bwindi. Many travellers use it as an overnight stop to break that long drive, and it deserves more time than it usually gets.
Mburo has no elephant and few large predators, which makes it one of the few Ugandan parks where you can walk, ride a horse or cycle among wildlife. It is also the best place in Uganda to see zebra and impala, alongside eland, buffalo and topi. Hippos and crocodiles live in the lake.
Rolling acacia savannah with rocky ridges, wooded valleys and swamps around a chain of lakes, the largest being Lake Mburo itself.
Zebra and impala are easy to see here but rare elsewhere in Uganda. Leopard are present and occasionally spotted on night drives. Birdlife is varied, with swamp species such as the African finfoot around the lake.

Mburo is relaxed and quiet. A morning walk or ride among zebra is a highlight for many people, and it is a gentle way to begin or end a Uganda safari.
Year-round. The dry seasons, roughly June to August and December to February, are best for walking and driving.

Yes. A walk or horse ride among zebra is unusual in Uganda and well worth half a day.
No elephants. Lions are very rarely recorded. The park's appeal is its plains game and activities on foot.
