This route covers more of the country than our other Uganda trips. It starts in the north at Murchison Falls National Park for savannah game drives and a Nile boat cruise, then heads south to Kibale Forest for chimpanzees and on to Bwindi for gorillas.
The benefit is variety: open savannah, a big river and two very different forests in six days. The cost is time on the road. Day three, from Murchison to Kibale, is the longest drive at around 5-6 hours, and day four combines chimp tracking with the onward drive to Bwindi.
We recommend this for travellers who have already been on safari elsewhere and want breadth, and who are comfortable with long transfer days in exchange for seeing more of Uganda. Accommodation is mid-range throughout, upgradeable to luxury.

Drive north to Murchison Falls National Park, with an afternoon game drive if there is time.
A morning game drive across the savannah, then an afternoon boat cruise upstream towards the base of the falls, with hippos, crocodiles and waterbirds along the banks.
The longest drive of the trip, around 5-6 hours south to Kibale, broken up with stops. You arrive in the evening.
A morning chimpanzee tracking walk with a ranger, then the drive south to the Bwindi area, arriving with time to rest.
An early briefing at the park office, then a guided trek into the forest with your ranger, following trackers who have gone ahead to locate the gorilla family. The walk can take under an hour or several hours, depending on where the group has moved. Once you reach them you have one hour to watch.
The drive back to Entebbe for onward travel.

Year-round. The dry seasons, roughly December to February and June to September, give easier driving and walking. The wet months are greener, with more dispersed wildlife and muddy tracks.
